Ballet Academy East Announces 2017-2018 David Howard Foundation Scholarship Recipient

NEW YORK, December 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Ballet Academy East (BAE) announces the winner of the second annual David Howard Foundation Fellowship. The award, generously underwritten by the David Howard Foundation, is made available to one outstanding BAE student each year to help cover tuition and accommodation. This year’s recipient is Cameron Catazaro Hayward.

Catazaro Hayward is from Canton, Ohio and entered BAE’s pre-professional division in September. Catazaro Hayward’s entire family is involved in the arts. His big brother Zachary Catazaro is principal dancer of the New York City Ballet.

Catazaro Hayward began his dance training at the Canton Ballet where his mother teaches. His passion for ballet took off when he had the opportunity to dance the role of Basilio in Don Quixote. Laura Alonsorenowned trainer and daughter of the famous ballerina Alicia Alonso, framed Catazaro Hayward in the role, as did his brother Zachary. This experience fueled his desire to take the next step in his education and come to BAE.

“My older brother Zachary is a huge inspiration in my life. He motivates me to work harder and harder every day,” says Catazaro Hayward.

The David Howard Foundation was established by the late David Howard, one of the most popular and innovative dance teachers in the world. The Foundation supports and sustains the teaching and performance of the art of ballet. It has been supporting the training of ballet teachers and students for many years.

“The David Howard Foundation Fellowship has a profound impact on the lives of its recipients just as David Howard so deeply influenced and inspired his many dedicated students. It is such an honor to share the legacy and history of David Howard with the next generation of talented young dancers,” says Julia Dubnofounder and director of Ballet Academy East.

According Robert Wessely, Esq.representative of the David Howard Foundation, “We are pleased to appoint Cameron Catazaro Hayward as the second David Howard Foundation Fellow. This continues our Founder’s practice of assisting ballet students in pursuing their ballet careers by providing a scholarship to a talented and deserving student. »
