CAIRO – June 25, 2018: Cairo Opera Ballet Company and Reda Dance Troupe participate in the 13th Caffeina Festival 2018 in Viterbo, Italy. The Cairo Opera Ballet Company performed on June 24, while the Reda Dance Troupe will take part in the festival’s closing ceremony.

Caffeina is a renowned Italian cultural summer festival that takes place in the city of Viterbo. The festival is very rich and includes many events, such as book releases, cultural discussions, readings, concerts and exhibitions, among others.

Senior Egyptian officials were keen to participate in this festival such as Minister of Culture Ines Abdel Dayem, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri and renowned Egyptian archaeologist and former Minister of Antiquities Zahi Hawass. The festival which runs from June 22 to July 1 takes place at the Palazzo dei Papi.

On the sidelines of his visit, Abdel Dayem will meet Italian Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini, the director of the Rome Opera and the director of the Santa Cecilia Orchestra to further strengthen artistic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

Abdel Dayem will then inaugurate the permanent Egyptian exhibition at the Palace of the Popes in Viterbo, the first residence of the Popes of the Catholic Church, 200 years before being moved to the headquarters of the Vatican. The exhibit is expected to include ancient Egyptian and Coptic artifacts.
