Ephesus Opera Ballet Festival will be held this month


The fourth Ephesus International Opera and Ballet Festival will be held from August 24 to September 3.


According to a statement from the General Directorate of State Opera and Ballet, the festival will be held this year in accordance with COVID-19 measures.

In addition to opera and ballet works, the festival will also feature concerts and musical genres.

The festival will open on August 24 with the opera “La Traviata” by Giuseppe Verdi which will be staged by the Izmir State Opera and Ballet at the Ancient Theater of Ephesus, which will open after the renovation.

The concert of the Prague Ensemble, consisting of Michaela Zajmi from the Prague Opera, Bledar Zajmi, Egli Prifti and flautist from the İzmir Opera and Ballet Hürkan Ayvazoğlu, will take place at the Odeon of Ephesus August 26.

Carmen Ballet, which presents the music of the opera “Carmen” by French composer Georges Bizet in an original choreography, will be presented at the Ancient Theater of Ephesus on August 28.

The Ankara State Opera and Ballet Modern Dance Ensemble (MDT) will take the stage with the musical “Gangster,” which takes audiences to 1930s America, at the Bornova Aşık Veysel Amphitheater on September 1.


In memory of Ender Arıman and Erol Uras, two priceless operatic tenors who lost their lives this year, a memorial concert will be held at the Ancient Theater of Ephesus by the choir and soloists of the Izmir State Opera and Ballet on September 3.
