Florida teenager accepted to Dutch Ballet Academy

After just five years of dancing, a teenager from Jupiter has been accepted into the prestigious Dutch Ballet Academy in Amsterdam. Seventeen-year-old Devon Luxton, a student at Dreyfoos School of the Arts, was selected after auditioning at the Great Barcelona Audition in February. Only 10 dancers were chosen and Devon was one of them – the only American male dancer. “It’s really important because the Dutch National has always been my main focus because I love dancing in Europe,” says Luxton. Devon’s dance journey began five years ago after seeing the musical “Billy Elliot.” His mother then enrolled him at the age of 12 in dance lessons at Paris Ballet et Danse, a dance school in Jupiter founded by Jean-Hugues Feray. “He’s someone who needs to be on stage and he plays better on stage than in the studio and that’s a very good indication, in a young talent when you see that someone coming on stage and can seize all the public I would say it is the main ingredient”, declared Hugues Feray.
