Opera productions from the Royal Opera House have started showing live at Eden Cinemas in St Julian’s as the cinema opens its cultural season.
Seven operas, six ballets and four visual art screenings are scheduled to be shown during the 2022/23 cinema cultural season.
The full schedule of events has been brought together by Eden Leisure Group and Eden Cinemas under the new Eden CineArts brand.
“The brand is committed to highlighting cultural products in an accessible way by broadcasting them live on the big screen”, specify the representatives of the cinema.
The classics Lady Butterfly and Mayerling kicked off the season.
Upcoming productions to be screened by Eden CineArts from the Royal Opera House include The Barber of Seville, Il Trovatore, Aida, Figaro’s wedding, Bohemian and Turandot. All shows feature world-class casts and scores, each broadcast live from London. Beyond opera, Eden Cinemas will also present six ballet performances throughout the year, including Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Like water for chocolate.
The season also includes The Royal Ballet: a celebration of the diamondcommemorating 60 years of the Royal Ballet.
The visual arts also take center stage, with four distinct shows, each highlighting varying artistic styles and historical periods.
“These screenings offer something beyond performance-based screenings,” Eden CineArts tells CineArts, “making it a very different way to enjoy cinema.”
The shows include Tutankhamun: The Last Exhibition, The Vatican Museum, Venice: infinitely avant-garde and Napoleon: In the name of art.
All tickets for all upcoming shows are readily available online at edencinemas.com.mt for the whole year.
